Biohazard Cleanup

24/7 Nationwide Response

Biohazard Cleanup

You don’t need to know the right words for what happened. Describe it in your own, and we’ll take it from there. Someone picks up at 844-326-6800 every hour of every day, and the crew that comes will have cleaned scenes like yours many times before. We arrive in unmarked vehicles, work discreetly, and handle everything so your family doesn’t have to.

What counts as a biohazard in a home or business?

Anything biological that can make people sick. In practice, that list is longer than most folks expect. Blood, in any amount that soaked into something. Body fluids after a death, an injury, or a serious illness. Human or animal waste in quantity, the kind that shows up in a neglected property or a bad sewage backup. Sharps and needles. Rodent droppings, which can carry hantavirus. Drug residue, including fentanyl and meth contamination that no rag and spray bottle should ever touch.

Here’s a simpler test we give callers. Would a landlord, an adjuster, or a health inspector call the area contaminated? Would you hesitate to let a child crawl on that floor? If either answer is yes, treat it as a biohazard until someone with training and testing equipment says otherwise. Guessing wrong in the safe direction costs you a phone call. Guessing wrong in the other direction can cost your health.

One Number, Every Situation

Biohazard work is a family of services, and we do all of it: death and trauma scenes, suicide and crime scene cleanup, hoarding, drug residue, mold, commercial accidents, apartment turnovers, estate cleanouts, even jail cells and squad cars for law enforcement agencies. You’ll find a page on this site for each. If someone died alone and wasn’t found right away, cleanup for an unattended death is its own specialty — timeline, odor treatment, and insurance all work differently. Families needing help after a suicide can also read how we protect privacy on those calls. Former drug labs get dedicated decontamination and testing. But you don’t have to diagnose your own situation before calling. Tell the dispatcher what you’re looking at. Matching the problem to the right crew and equipment is our job, and it starts on that first call.

Who is qualified to do biohazard cleanup?

Technicians trained under OSHA’s bloodborne pathogen standard, equipped with medical-grade protective gear, and set up to package and transport regulated medical waste legally. That last part surprises people. Contaminated materials can’t ride to the dump in a pickup truck; they have to travel documented, in approved containers, to licensed disposal facilities. A general cleaning company has mops and good intentions. This work needs containment, hospital-grade disinfectants, and verification testing.

Ask any company two questions before you hire them. How do you verify a surface is safe, and what happens to the waste? We answer with ATP surface testing and documented medical-waste disposal, and we put both in writing. If a cheaper bid can’t answer those questions, that bid isn’t cheaper. It’s incomplete.

How much does biohazard cleanup cost?

Less than people fear in many cases, and here’s why: property insurance frequently covers it. A sudden contamination event is physical damage to the property in most policies’ eyes, which means the job often lands at your deductible rather than the full invoice. The invoice itself depends on scope. A contained scene in one room sits at the low end. Contamination that spread through flooring, walls, or multiple rooms costs more because more material has to come out and more verification has to happen.

Two promises about money, both firm. You’ll see a written price after we assess and before we start, and it won’t grow quietly while we work. And we document the entire job — photos before, itemized work during, testing after — so whoever is paying, whether that’s a carrier, an estate, or you, can see exactly what the number bought.

If insurance doesn’t cover everything, financing options are available.

How the Work Actually Gets Done

  • You speak to a person immediately — no phone tree, day or night.
  • Assessment first: we walk the scene, map the contamination, and write the scope.
  • Containment goes up so the problem doesn’t travel to clean parts of the building.
  • Contaminated materials come out as regulated medical waste; salvageable surfaces get cleaned and disinfected.
  • ATP testing verifies the result, and odor treatment runs where it’s needed.
  • We document everything for your insurance claim and can bill your carrier directly.
  • The scene is returned to a safe, livable condition — meeting OSHA and EPA standards.

Quiet by Design

Every vehicle in our fleet is plain. No lettering, no symbols, no tell of any kind. Gear moves in ordinary cases, suits go on indoors, and conversations about the job happen inside, never in the driveway. Whether the address is a family home, a storefront, or a rental unit, the people nearby see workers and boxes. That’s all they’ll ever see. What brought us there is nobody’s business but yours.

Coverage is national: we dispatch everywhere in the US except California, from downtown blocks to gravel-road addresses, all through one number — 844-326-6800. In Central Texas, our Austin biohazard cleanup crew covers Travis County and the towns around it, and in North Texas the Dallas biohazard cleanup team handles Dallas County and the DFW suburbs.

Why “Clean-Looking” and “Clean” Are Different Words

This is the single most expensive misunderstanding in our whole line of work, so let’s be plain about it. A surface can look spotless and still be dangerous. Blood wiped off a hardwood floor leaves the wood beneath it contaminated. That’s the reason any real volume of blood calls for professional blood cleanup instead of household products. A mattress flipped to the clean side is still soaked underneath. Bleach poured over a spill kills what it touches and never reaches what soaked below. The eye is a terrible instrument for judging whether a space is safe, and it’s the only instrument most people have.

That’s why our crews don’t trust their eyes either. We use ATP testing — the same technology hospitals rely on — to measure whether biological material is actually gone from a surface, not whether it looks gone. A swab, a reader, a number. If the number is too high, we clean again and re-test. You don’t get an opinion that the room is safe; you get a measurement. And you get it in writing, because “trust me, it’s fine” is worth exactly nothing to an adjuster, a buyer, or a family member who has to sleep in that house next week.

What the Wrong Cleanup Costs You Later

People call us second more often than we’d like — after a cheaper option already failed. The pattern repeats. A general cleaning company took the job, made the surfaces look right, and left. Weeks later an odor returns, or a stain bleeds back through fresh paint, or a home inspection during a sale flags contamination nobody disclosed. Now the work has to be done a second time, the money spent the first time is gone, and sometimes there’s a legal problem stacked on top, because a property with a known contamination history carries disclosure obligations in many states.

Doing it once, correctly, is cheaper than doing it twice — even when the correct company quotes more up front. The difference is that our number includes finding all the contamination, removing what can’t be saved, verifying the result, and documenting the whole thing. The cheaper number often includes only the part you can see. We’d rather be the first call than the rescue call, but we take plenty of rescue calls, and we’ll tell you honestly what the first crew missed. Call 844-326-6800 either way.

Answers Before You Ask

Is there anything too small to call about?

No. Some jobs genuinely are small, and when yours is, the dispatcher will say so and tell you how to handle it safely yourself. Free. We’d rather earn your trust on a five-minute call than send an unnecessary crew.

Who deals with the insurance company?

We do, start to finish. Photos, itemized scope, the adjuster’s report, direct billing where the carrier allows it. Your involvement usually ends at providing the policy number.

How quickly does a crew arrive?

Same day across most of the country, and often within hours for urgent scenes. Dispatch never closes. Weekends and holidays cost nothing extra, because emergencies don’t check the calendar and neither do we.

Will there be any record visible to neighbors or tenants?

Nothing outward. Unmarked vehicles, no signage, no branded uniforms in view. Paperwork goes to you and, if you choose, your insurer. Discretion isn’t an upgrade we sell; it’s the default.

Do you handle the repairs after the cleanup, or just the decontamination?

Both are available. Decontamination is the part that legally and safely requires a trained crew — removing contamination, disinfecting, testing. The rebuild that follows, new flooring or drywall or paint, can go to your own contractor once we hand off a clean, tested space, or we can carry it through so you deal with one company from start to finish. Tell us which you’d prefer.

What if I already started cleaning before I called?

That’s common, and it’s fine — stop where you are, keep out of the area, and let us take it from there. We’ll assess what’s been done, find what’s been missed (there’s almost always more below the surface), and finish the job properly with verification testing. You won’t get a lecture for trying. Most people try.

What Sets On Call Bio Apart

  • Every call reaches a live person, 24 hours a day — no menus, no waiting.
  • Crews follow OSHA bloodborne pathogen rules and EPA cleanup standards on every scene. When police were involved, our crime scene cleaners step in the moment investigators release the property.
  • Regulated medical waste is documented and disposed of through licensed channels on every job.
  • Detailed insurance documentation on every job, with direct carrier billing where available.
  • No markings, no signage, no talk — total discretion is the default, not an upsell.
  • We test to confirm a surface is actually clean, not just clean-looking, before we finish.
